Betty Helen Stafford Smith

Mrs. Betty Helen Stafford Smith, 82, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Hamilton Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Smith and a grandson, George Harper Pollok III; brother, Overton Stafford; sister, Katherine Louise Bullen.

A lifelong resident of Dalton, Betty was a member of Dalton First Baptist Church for many years. She was the owner of Valencia Dress Shop and a local real estate agent with Belk and Co.

Betty is survived by her children and their spouses, Steve Smith of Atlanta, Kathy and George Pollok Jr., of Greensboro, N.C. and Laurie Smith of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Stephanie and Dax Gill, Lindsey Smith, Anne Pollok, William Pollok, Katie Pollok and Jason Smith; great-grandchildren, Ansely Gill and Eliza Gill; special nephew, Dr. Bob Bullen; other nephews and nieces.

Services are today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Wilson and the Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends at Love Funeral Home on Sunday.
