Former math teacher’s case moved to next week

CHATSWORTH — The arraignment of Jeffery Stephen Patterson, a former Bagley Middle School math teacher indicted by a Murray County grand jury on two counts of failure to report suspected child abuse, was continued until next week, the district attorney’s office said.

Patterson was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday but was out of town.

Patterson was arrested last year for failing to report “sexual relations between two minors,” a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent said at the time. As a teacher, he was required to report any evidence concerning sexual acts and minors, the agent said.a
