Area Arrests for May 1

• Roger James Smith, 30, 438 LaFayette Road, Apartment 5, Rocky Face, was charged Tuesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with first degree cruelty to children and simple battery (family violence).

• Antonio Gaspar Padron, 30, 338 Cedar Ridge Road, No. 7, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with driving without a license, DUI and a tail light violation.
