Nominations sought for Community Champion award

Murray County Family Connection is sponsoring the third annual Community Champion award to recognize the outstanding efforts of an individual who provides services to children and families on a daily basis. The award banquet will be on Sept. 3 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Murray Recreation Center on Hyden Tyler Road.

“The champion is someone who goes continuously above and beyond the call of duty and works tirelessly to assist our children and families,” said Karen Edmondson, coordinator of Family Connection in Murray.

Criteria for the award are that the individual is a resident of Murray County and has made a major contribution to the community. The recipient for 2006 was Cheryl Blackwell and the winner for 2007 was Franklin Floyd.

Individuals are nominated by their peers as well as others in the community. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 15. For more information, call Edmondson at (706) 483-2684.
