Suggs stepping down from development authority

After nearly three years at the helm of the Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority, executive director Melanie Suggs is stepping down.

“I’m getting married on Saturday,” said Suggs, who was hired as the JDA’s first executive director in April 2006. “I’m going to continue to do something involved in the community, whether it is volunteer work or fundraising or possibly a business. I’m at a crossroads, and I want to take the time to find something to do that still gives me the time I want to spend with my family and my new husband.”
