Burl Eugene Franks

Mr. Burl Eugene Franks, 75, of Dalton, departed this life Wednesday evening, July 29, 2009, at the local hospital.

Mr. Franks was born March 19, 1934, in Whitfield County, a son of the late Jessie and Allie Bunch Franks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Davis Franks; daughter, Sheila Dunagan; brothers, Floyd, Harvey, JD, Junior and Ott Franks; and sister, Charlene Truelove. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Danny Hix of Dalton; grandchildren, Scott and Laura Beavers, Kenny and Brandi Beavers, Sheilena and Mike Stone, Chris and Monica Hix, Laura and Wesley McWhortor and Julia and Anthony Sanders; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great-grandchild on the way; nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Burl Eugene Franks are Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Casteel, the Rev. Cecil Williams and the Rev. Tony Hyatt officiating.

Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Tunnel Hill with Bill Franks, Randall Franks, Egan Stanley, Damon Dunagan, Andy Coker and Ryan Goins serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
