James Arthur Reed

Mr. James Arthur Reed, 81, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at his residence.

He was the son of the late James M. and Ruby Redwine Reed and was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin “Andy” Reed.

Arthur was inducted into the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department Softball Hall of Fame on May 13, 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Emma “Ruth” Brown Reed of Dalton; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky Samuel Reed and Bridget, Kenneth Dale Reed Sr. and Melanie all of Dalton; grandchildren, Kerri and Chuck Shirley, Kristina Reed, Kenneth Dale Reed Jr., Sam Reed, Brinkley Kate Reed, Caroline Reed, Austin Brown and Skylar Brown; great-grandchildren, Gracie Reed, Emma Kate Reed and AnLeigh Shirley; sisters and brother-in-law, Lenora Maret and Avis and Bud Gravely all of Dalton; nieces, nephews and special friend and caregiver, Linda Garrett of Dalton and special friends, Debbie and Mike Roper of Dalton.

Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Darey Kittle and the Rev. Walter Hair officiating.

Burial will be in Varnell Cemetery.

The family received friends at Love Funeral Home Sunday.
