Kidnapping, assault suspect turns self in

A man wanted by the Dalton Police Department for allegedly assaulting and attempting to kidnap a male teenager turned himself in to the police department on Wednesday.

David Anthony Burton, 19, was wanted on warrants for aggravated assault, kidnapping and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.

Police said Burton and two unidentified males approached a juvenile and threatened him with a gun, telling him to get into a car, on Nov. 18. When the juvenile refused, Burton grabbed him and pulled him into the car, police said. The juvenile escaped out of a car window before Burton drove away.

Investigators believe the incident was related to a fight the day before.
