I was surprised to learn that Dalton Public Works is a landscaping contractor.

This morning (Feb. 1) I was standing at my kitchen window having my morning coffee when I noticed three huge public works trucks pull in across the street. I live in the city and wondered what was going on since there is no public property on my street. Then I noticed that there were several large trees in the back of the enormous dump truck they were using.
I stood there for a minute and watched to see if I could figure out what they were doing on private property with all this equipment. In fact, I got my camera out and shot some pictures of it after I noticed a crew of at least six men pull up with a large bulldozer and begin digging holes in my neighbor’s yard.
I found it so alarming that the taxpayers were probably paying for all this labor and material that I called the police to investigate.
Officer Payne came out and we walked over to question the crew of men and I found out the work was being paid for by the homeowner and that anyone could have the same service with just a phone call.
I am including the name of the person to contact and his phone number if anyone is interested. His name is Kris Thomas. He is the landscape foreman for the city and the phone number to reach him is (706) 278-7077.
Ask about the Community Partners in Planting project and you can get some very large trees planted on your property, too.

These were no small trees mind you, these are full grown, very large and very expensive trees and the manpower alone must be an enormous cost.
