Memorial Day observed at Murray County Courthouse

The annual Memorial Day observance hosted by American Legion Post 167 in Chatsworth will begin at 11 a.m. at the Murray County Courthouse on Monday. Veterans and their families are invited to a free picnic lunch afterwards.

The ceremony will open with prayer and patriotic music. After a welcome by Commander Larry Morrison, all 57 names of those killed in action will be read by Chatsworth Mayor Tyson Haynes. Taps will be played and a closing prayer will end the 15- to 20-minute ceremony, a legion representative said.
Following the ceremony, veterans and their families are invited to a lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers at the American Legion pavilion at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Peachtree Street.
