Franklin Delano ‘Frank’ Amos Sr.

Mr. Franklin Delano “Frank” Amos Sr., 68, of Rocky Face, departed this life Monday morning, March 26, 2012, at his home.
Frank was born March 23, 1944, in Savannah, a son of the late Paul Mason Amos and Hazel Marie Beavers Amos. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Taylor Amos; brothers, Gary Amos, Bobby Amos, Gene Amos, J.D. Amos, O.D. Amos and P.D. Amos; and sisters, Thelma Boring, Joyce Harrell and Gladys Amos.
Frank worked many years in the textile industry and was retired from the Dixie Group. He proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Mount Rachel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Neil Stewart of Resaca; sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin D. Jr. and Angela Amos of Rocky Face, Daniel and Jill Amos of Dalton; grandchildren, Garrett and Emily Matthews, Erin Amos, Kimberly Amos, Katie Matthews, Hunter Amos, Calen Amos, Britteny Stewart, Kamie Amos and Ethan Amos; great-grandson, Brentley Matthews; sisters, Diane Sharp of Dayton, Tenn., and Arnetta Wynn of Alcoa, Tenn.; brothers, Donald Amos of Bryson City, N.C., Lonnie Amos of Dalton and Terry “Bear” Amos of Ringgold; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Frank Amos will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Greene officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Casey Amos, Lee Amos, Ryan Amos, Keith Amos, Bobby Fugatt and Dallas Mock serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after noon Thursday until the funeral hour.
