Eugenia DeMore

Eugenia DeMore, 83, beloved sister and aunt, and a cherished friend and neighbor of many, died on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, after a short yet very courageous battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald DeMore, and two siblings, Naomi Combs and Joel Combs.
She is survived by a brother, William Combs, and his wife, Doris Combs. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
A native of Dalton, Genia moved to Atlanta in the early 1960s. She is a 1966 Georgia State alumni and pursued a career in the insurance industry where she was one of Georgia’s first women to become a certified professional commercial underwriter. In her life, she delighted in travels with friends to exotic and popular cities of the world. After retirement, she was a devoted and contributing member to many organizations, especially advocating for animal rights and shelters. She was an active and supporting member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Eugenia DeMore will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Whitfield Memorial Gardens in the Hope Mausoleum at 710 W. Cuyler St. in Dalton with Brother George Cross officiating.
