Raymond Groves

Raymond Groves, 89, a native of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013,  at his home in Macon.

He resided in Orange Beach and Daphne, Ala., for 20 years.

A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Greatest Generation. He loved God, his family and country. He was a retired mail carrier and farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl W. and Pauline M. Groves.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Grace B. Groves; daughter, Vicki (Charles) Bass of Macon; son, Don (Sandy) Groves of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four grandchildren, Jonathan  (Vanassa) Bass, Kristina (Townsend) Bailey, Tucker (Ashley) Groves and Margaret (Kevin) Worrell; eight great-grandchildren.

Services are Friday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Chatsworth with Dr. J. Estel Jones officiating.

He will be at the church one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Chatsworth Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Chatsworth or to East Point Baptist Church in Spanish Fort, Ala.
