What’s coming to former Wendy’s on Walnut?

The site of the former Wendy’s on West Walnut Avenue may not be empty for long.

Rocky Huffman, owner of the property, said the site has been leased and development should begin soon. But he said his agreement with the tenant would not allow him to reveal the name of the business or even the type of business. The former fast-food restaurant sits on a busy stretch of Walnut Avenue flush with restaurants, retail stores and gas stations.

Whitfield County Building Inspector Greg Williams said no one has applied for any permits to develop the property.

“I have been contacted by a sign company regarding the company that will be coming there, but I am not at liberty to talk about that yet,” Williams said.
