THOMASVILLE — An armed man approached a teller at a Thomasville bank late Wednesday morning, demanded — and received — money and got away in a vehicle believed to be a white pickup.

The gunman, dressed in black, with a black cover over his face and wearing large sunglasses, entered a Commercial Bank branch at 2704 E. Pinetree Blvd. at 11:15 a.m., according to police.

“He was given an undetermined amount of cash,” Maj. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer, said at the robbery scene.

The bank robber, described as black, was possibly traveling in a white, four-door Dodge pickup. A vehicle fitting the description was parked at the front door of the bank during the time of the holdup.

The suspect wore gloves and had tape wrapped around his arms above the gloves. The tape might have been used to conceal the robber’s skin color, Thomasville Police Maj. Maurice Holmes said.
