Homicide victim died of head injuries.

The man who was shot this afternoon at the A1 Towing & Recovery lot at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton has died, and investigators believe it was from a self-inflicted gunshot.

“We are investigating this as a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to the Dalton Police Department. “There’s a possibility that this was an accidental shooting as opposed to an intentional act on the part of the victim.”

His name has not been released.

At about 12:30 p.m., Dalton Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting victim found in an office at the lot, according to police.

Responding officers found a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Hamilton Medical Center. Officers secured the scene and are investigating.
