Today's Forum for June 26

“There are several excellent candidates running for the board of education for Dalton Public Schools. Each has a strong connection as a product through the system or through a long career affiliation. My concern is simply this: Will they fall in line with the majority of the existing establishment or will they draw upon their wealth of individual talents, leadership skills and experience with fiscal responsibility, truth and common sense?”

“There are a lot of people that don’t believe in standing for the Pledge of Allegiance because it’s like worshipping a flag, so you’re standing for a song. What you need to do is stand for Jesus. Stand for God. It’s like you’re worshipping a flag or a song. Come on people, get real.”

“Mr. President, the way to honor the White House is through compassion and dignity and being above the fray, not causing the fray.”

“Why don’t our leaders here in Whitfield County put on the ballot about the general downtown and let the people decide if they want it down or not, instead of a few gutless people that think if they don’t take it down people are going to get mad and they won’t get a vote?”

“Thanks to the person that bought our dinner at Cracker Barrel this past Sunday night.”

“In reference to the passing of Coach Bill Napier, what a fine man. He did have a lot of influence, one being my grandson when he was playing at Dalton High School. When my grandson heard that he had passed, he cried. He’s 19. We need more Bil Napiers in our schools. Love and prayers to his family. Thanks to the family for lending him to us all these years. God bless you all.”

“Let Bob Corker run for president. He’ll get beaten by President Trump like Trump beat all those other RINOs.”

“I know these NFL players make millions of dollars so why can’t they stand for three or four minutes for the national anthem? If it wasn’t for the brave men and women that served this great country they would not be able to make the kind of money we only dream of.”

“People need to boycott Nike, Adidas and Reebok.”

“I work hard and I can’t afford health insurance. I find it kind of funny that my tax dollars go to buy health insurance for incarcerated criminals.”

“I think people need to be more appreciative of the Dalton Board of Education. They’re all volunteers. Until you’re willing to volunteer, don’t complain.”

“For anyone that’s looking for an organ- and piano-playing church to back up good gospel music, please come visit us as Maranatha Baptist Church on Highway 225 in Chatsworth. We are a God-fearing, full Bible-teaching church.”

“Happiness is having your sweet doggy waiting for you with his tail wagging when you get home from work.”

“Somebody told me they thought Donald Trump was the Antichrist. But I told them he couldn’t be the Antichrist because the Antichrist would’ve done a much better job.”

“It used to be fun to watch all the beautiful, old passenger trains come through Dalton. Now all you see is graffiti-covered freight trains. What an eyesore.”

“Good luck to the person trying to find crowder peas. I can’t find them in the can or in the dry section.”

“Something needs to be done about the cars cutting across the double yellow lines on Shugart Road to get in and out of the RaceTrac. There are so many accidents that are being caused by that. There was one the other day, and last Saturday a car had to jam on its brakes to avoid someone cutting in and out.”
