Northwest Georgia man dies after being struck by a car

DALTON, Ga. — A Chatsworth man died Friday night after being struck by a car in northern Whitfield County.

A Georgia State Patrol crash report said Joshua Chase Allen, 27, was walking across State Route 3 (Highway 41) near Rock Hill Road around 10:47 p.m. when he was struck by a 2017 Nissan Sentra. The report said Allen was “wearing dark clothing and had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage about his person.” “Next to the area of impact was an opened Budweiser beer can,” the report said. The driver of the Sentra said “she never saw anything before making contact.”She said she “didn’t even know what she had struck in the roadway.”

The report said a witness “at a nearby residence” said the man had been drinking when he left the residence walking toward State Route 3.

Allen was taken to Hamilton Medical Center with fatal injuries.
