Eastbrook Middle School teacher Corey Orr is a creative and inspiring educator, said Amy Hartline, recycling and education program coordinator for the Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority and executive director of Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful.
“Corey has an exceptional talent for providing her students with unique and engaging learning experiences,” said Hartline. “I first got to know her through her involvement in our American Billboard Contest where her students submit outstanding entries. I’ve had the privilege of observing her teaching firsthand and meeting her students as she connected with them at their individual levels.”

Hartline said “one of the most impressive projects she leads each year” is the Cardboard Arcade. This project calls upon students to apply their physics lessons to design and build arcade games entirely from reused materials.
“This creative and hands-on approach makes learning and sustainability fun,” Hartline said. “Corey’s dedication to her students’ growth and her innovative teaching methods make her an invaluable asset to our educational community.”
For inspiring her students, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Corey Orr Citizen of the Week.
