Antioch Baptist Church in Dalton has a Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a Chili Cook-off and a Cornbread Cook-off (anyone can enter). Categories are Best Tasting, Most Original, First Empty Pot and Hottest (Spiciest). Children 12 and under are encouraged to bring a decorated pumpkin with prizes to the best one. There is a Western theme dress-up for kids (no adults dressing up). There will be inflatables, hayrides, games, candy, caramel apples and other food. Three $100 gift cards will be given away in a drawing.

Bridging the Gap Ministries of Dalton Inc. will celebrate Pastor Bishop William C. Simpson III with the 9th Pastor’s Appreciation on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m. at the Mack Gaston Community Center at 218 N. Fredrick St. in Dalton. The Rev. Edward L. Hoggs, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Dalton, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served at 1:45 p.m. Organizers say, “Please come and celebrate with us and impart brief words of encouragement. If you are unable to be present, please send a card, donation/love offering to Bishop William C. Simpson III at P.O. Box 1935, Dalton, GA 30722.” For more information, call (762) 231-9894.

Five Springs Methodist Church at 2823 Five Springs Road in Dalton has a community food pantry on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.

Riverbend Church of Christ in Dalton opens a benevolent house each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for area residents in need. People can choose from a variety of clothing, shoes, household items and more at no charge. The ministry is in the white house beside the church building at 2218 S. Riverbend Road.

St. Mark’s Episcopal will have its annual Blessing of the Animals service in connection with St. Francis Day at the church on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m.

Valley Brook Church of God will have a Fire Service with guest speaker Pastor Jeanie Herd-Brown from Wheeler Addition Church of God in Pikeville, Tennessee, on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The church is at 1474 Mineral Springs Road in Dalton. A love offering is welcome.
