Letter to the editor

With the winter holidays and year-end celebrations upon us, the staff and board of the Creative Arts Guild express our deep appreciation for all the ongoing support we enjoy while serving this community.

Envisioned and founded as a local, accessible multidisciplinary community arts center, the Guild has served Dalton and surrounding area since 1963 with an array of excellent classes, workshops, exhibits and performances open to all ages and interests, and we look forward to another year of continuing and expanding those options in 2025.

As we all begin to wind down for the year’s end and pause for some reflection and hope, keep in mind that this is a great time to remember and revisit your old interests in art, music, dance, maybe even cooking. Registration for classes is ongoing. Take a look at the list at creativeartsguild.org.

You’ve probably seen the Guild building, situated at 520 W. Waugh St., with its bright new color stripes, hovering lightly on its pillars above the Bernice Spigel Pavilion and surrounded by the Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden. It’s hard to miss, and if you’ve never been inside you may wonder what goes on there.

If you’ve been fortunate enough to attend a monthly exhibit opening and reception or taken an instructional class, you may be familiar with the Guild but still might not know the full range of experiences available at this facility. In addition to classes, there are seasonal workshops and camps. You can inquire about scholarship opportunities and learn about things on the horizon such as a theater arts program, a writers group and a growing Arts and Wellness Program in partnership with Vitruvian Health. Also, the facility’s attractive building spaces may be rented for private events, often with art surrounding your special activity.

The Guild is a nonprofit organization supported by instructional fees, commission sales, rental fees and donations and grants from public and private entities. The Guild is grateful to all of our many sponsors whose generosity and interest in the arts each year make it possible for the Guild to offer its wonderful programming. You can be a part of that essential support by making a donation in any amount. Consider becoming a Friend of the Guild or a Legacy ’63 Partner. You can check out the easy ways to do this on the Guild’s website.

We sincerely wish everyone a very happy, bright and creative holiday season.

The staff and board of the Creative Arts Guild
