Paige Watts “is truly a treasure,” said Amy Hartline, recycling and education program coordinator for the Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority and executive director of Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful.
Watts is the director of The Dalton Academy’s Translation Academy. The academy allows bilingual students to use their language skills by translating at school and community functions, among making other contributions.

“Her passion for helping (her students) grow into amazing citizens is unmatched,” said Hartline. “She goes above and beyond to ensure her students have the support they need whether it’s providing language translation, creating opportunities for new experiences or simply being a trusted adult they can connect with.”
Hartline said each year Watts finds multiple ways for the students to use their languages skills in the community.
“She’s also encouraged them to learn about the environment, clean up litter and take pride in their community,” Hartline said. “Through her help, the Interact Club (a school service club) has adopted a mile they regularly clean, and she works alongside students during various cleanups at other locations throughout the year.”
For her efforts to help her students make a difference in the community, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Paige Watts Citizen of the Week.
