Citizens of the Week: Firefighters Jamie Franks and Jeff Schmitt bring ‘a huge smile” to local boy

Firefighters are known for being brave and determined.

But it is special when they are also compassionate.

Whitfield County firefighters Jamie Franks and Jeff Schmitt exemplified that recently during the call of duty.

While putting out a small grass fire they took a moment to let a young boy in the neighborhood help with the fire hose, bringing “a huge smile to his face,” according to a resident who shared the scene in a post on the Whitfield County Facebook page.

For not only keeping the community safe but also making a difference in a small way that matters, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Whitfield County firefighters Jamie Franks and Jeff Schmitt Citizens of the Week.
