Creative Arts Guild officials proudly announce the opening of the Guild’s 62nd annual Student Arts Expo on Friday.
March is Arts in Education Month at the Guild and the Student Arts Expo is a big part of the celebration and is the feature of Friday’s Gallery Opening and Artist Reception that will include recognition of this year’s Bernice Spigel Prize recipient, Dalton High School senior Ada Arevalo. The event is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with light refreshments plus a student dance performance at 5:45. The dance was created and choreographed by the dancers in Ballet Dalton’s Master Tier Program.
About the Student Arts Expo
Trending
Each year, all Whitfield County, Dalton and Murray County public, private and homeschool students ages pre-kindergarten to high school are invited to exhibit individual art. Ribbons for first, second, third and honorable mention will be awarded before the exhibit officially opens Friday evening. Also, school classrooms will exhibit collaborative work in the Art Together project.
A highlight of the expo is the Bernice Spigel Prize for Excellence in the Visual Arts. Any public, private or homeschooled high school senior residing or attending school in Dalton, Whitfield County or Murray County is eligible for this award. The prize was created to honor Bernice Spigel, the Guild’s first executive director. Student artist Ada Arevalo, recipient of this year’s award, will be introduced at 6 p.m. during the reception.
The reception and exhibit viewing are free and open to the public. Please plan to visit the Guild to see the student work and to support future artists. Contact Amanda Walker at amandaw@creativeartsguild.org or call the Guild to schedule field trips (706-278-0168).
