Suspect arrested in arson fire that forced Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, family to flee residence
Police say a man has been arrested after a suspected arson fire at the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion while Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family slept inside. Shapiro, his family and guests were evacuated early Sunday from the Harrisburg residence after being awakened by state troopers. No one was injured and the fire was extinguished. Authorities identified the man in custody as 38-year-old Cody Balmer of Harrisburg. Dauphin County District Attorney Francis Chardo says forthcoming charges will include attempted murder, terrorism, attempted arson and aggravated assault. The attack happened on the Jewish holiday of Passover, which Shapiro had celebrated at the residence.

A beloved pet tortoise named Myrtle has been reunited with its family in Mississippi weeks after disappearing during a deadly tornado outbreak. Tiffany Emanuel and her family fled their rural home as a tornado hit on March 15. They returned to find pine trees had fallen on top of Myrtle’s backyard home. Myrtle was missing. A neighbor found the injured tortoise weeks later and took him to a rescue group for treatment. The neighbor also contacted Myrtle’s family. A grateful Tiffany Emanuel is nursing him back to health.

After just two weeks in theaters, “A Minecraft Movie” is already the highest grossing Hollywood release of 2025. The Warner Bros. video game adaptation followed up its blockbuster opening with a second weekend of $80.6 million in ticket sales. Though critics slammed the movie and audience scores were merely good, “A Minecraft Movie” latched on with moviegoers who have increasingly turned out in droves for big-budget video game adaptations. “The King of Kings,” an animated tale of Jesus’ life aimed at Christian audiences, came in second with $19 million in 3,200 theaters. “The Amateur,” a 20th Century production starring Rami Malek as a CIA cryptographer hunting down his wife’s killers, debuted with $15 million domestically.
