Wreck kills one

One man is dead after a single vehicle crash Thursday.

According to a Georgia State Patrol spokesman, Daniel Lee Burkholder, 46, of Dalton, lost control of the pickup he was driving eastbound around a curve on Foster Road at about 9:50 p.m. Thursday.

The vehicle left the road, hit a culvert, and finally stopped in a ditch where Burkholder was partially ejected, the spokesman said. He said Burkholder was not wearing a seat belt.

Whitfield County Coroner Bobbie Dixon said Burkholder was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force head injuries.

Foster Road is south of Dalton and links Dug Gap Road to U.S. Highway 41 South.
