Whitfield population over 100,000

Whitfield County’s population skyrocketed over the past decade, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

According to the 2010 Census count, Whitifeld County’s population stands at 102,599, up from 83,525 in 2000.

Murray County also saw a strong population growth, but far less than that of Whitfield. The Census Bureau reports Murray County had a population of 39,628 in 2010, up from 36,506 in 2000.

Overall, Georgia’s population stood at 9.68 million in 2010, up from 8.19 million in 2000.
