A Dalton man has been arrested following Thursday’s break-in of a residence at 2306 Third St.

That afternoon, the 911 Center received a call that one of the suspects that had fled from the scene had returned to an area on Pleasant Hill Road and was looking for something in the woods, Sheriff Scott Chitwood said in a press release.

A witness said the suspect was driving a red Mustang. As officers approached the area the suspect left and a deputy saw the car heading south on Cleveland Highway and attempted to stop it. The chase continued and the suspect struck another vehicle close to the Dawnville Road area, Chitwood said, continued onto Dawnville Road before turning onto Brooker Road.

The car eventually went into a ditch and Kenneth Lamar Saunders, 26, was arrested. He was charged with burglary, reckless driving, fleeing to elude, obstruction of officers and other traffic violations, and a felony amount of marijuana was discovered in the car.

Investigators are still investigating to determine who the second suspect was who was involved in the burglary on Third Street.
