Letter to the editor: All information needed

I agree domestic violence often ends in tragedies, and appreciate the Northwest Georgia Crisis Center and agencies who help victims involved in these situations.

There are two sides to every story, and society tends to focus more on the mother’s than the father’s, especially if attractive in appearance. Claims tend not to be disputed. Domestic violence tragedies involve whole and extended families as well.

Men are victims facing different realities, such as their family torn apart by affairs, threats of losing children, enormous debts not created on their own, threats of jail time because of false allegations, having to keep everything going and work.

They become depressed, let themselves go physically, seeing no light at the end of the tunnel. They do not have anyone to reach out to because of looking weak. If they seek help, they are told to lawyer-up and cannot afford the options given to them. They turn to drinking and drugs, which are society’s problems, attributed to lack of help, support and hope offered to them.

Women take advantage by pushing buttons in hopes they will snap and harm themselves, making a way to inherit the home, children and financial support. Their lives are bettered by the sympathies they are given without the whole story.

Society takes their word for it because they are women, mothers and the weaker gender, when they are manipulating the system.

Women who have children’s best interest at heart put them first, but a lot of the time it is more about themselves. Why do they stay so long when they have places to go and people to help them? Things are not always what they seem.

You have anyone, everyone having an opinion who may not even really know anyone in the family, but are seeking 15 seconds of fame. Shame on them causing pain to families involved.

“Vengeance is mine,” saith the Lord. I don’t know how they sleep. I pray in the future the whole family and whole story is addressed from both sides by these agencies, as well as law enforcement, courts, newspapers, news agencies and social media.

Children are the true victims, and may help the truth, if within a reasonable age to provide answers to those seeking to help. Being children, adults be careful translating and reporting information.

Those assisting need to get all information and future resolutions will be more successful for all.
