Former Bears cornerback Charles Tillman now an FBI agent in training

Former Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman recently began training to become an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Tillman, 36, retired last year after 13 seasons in the NFL. Tillman’s father was a sergeant in the U.S. Army. — Chicago Tribune

Study: Increasing diversity makes minorities more conservative

In the U.S., whites become more conservative in their ideology upon learning that ethnic minority groups are growing in size. But new research indicates that blacks and Asian Americans also become more conservative on learning that Hispanics are growing in numbers. The research indicates that a threat to group position makes members of that group more conservative whether they were initially in the majority or the minority. — Psychology Today

California governor compares Trump supporters to cave dwellers

California’s Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown compared supporters of President Donald Trump to cave dwellers. “They’re both kind of very similar,” Brown said at a climate change event in New York. “You should check out the derivation of ‘Trump-ite’ and ‘troglodyte,’ because they both refer to people who dwell in deep, dark caves.”  — Politico

French university cancels classes after migrants set up camp on campus

Citing security concerns, the University of Reims Champagne Ardenne in northeastern France canceled all classes “until further notice” after several dozen migrants set up a camp on the campus. — The Local

Illinois has $16 billion in unpaid bills

Illinois’ pile of unpaid bills topped $16 billion for the first time as the state deals with the fallout of an unprecedented two straight fiscal years without complete budgets, the state comptroller’s office reported. — Reuters

Democratic senator suggests Russia behind ‘Dreamer’ protests

New Hampshire Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen suggested that Russia may be to blame for “Dreamers” being upset at Democrats. Asked about a recent event in which Dreamers shouted down House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in San Francisco, Shaheen said, “Who knows who’s stirred up this kind of animosity. What we know about the Russians and their interference in the 2016 elections is that they tried to increase divisions within this country.” — NH1 News
