STONE MOUNTAIN — The owner of a liquor store is dead after being shot in his subdivision in an apparent robbery attempt.

Sashamer “Rocky” Tucker was driving home with his wife around 1 a.m. Sunday when two armed men drove to their vehicle, DeKalb County police spokesman Jason Gagnon said.

Police suspect the men may have followed the couple into their subdivision in Stone Mountain.

Police say Tucker pulled out a gun and got into a shootout with the two. He died at the scene.

Police said they were not sure if the two suspects were wounded in the shooting. Detectives visited several hospitals looking for any gunshot victims who may have been involved.

Tucker owned Rocky’s Package Store near the Emory University campus.
