• Dalton-Whitfield Church Women United Friendship Day is celebrated Friday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church at 2014 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Dalton. The guest speaker will be Robert Hill of Dalton’s Greater Works. Organizers said, “Please bring items for the food pantry and personal care items to be provided to the Greater Works mission. Also, your favorite dish is requested to add to the potluck luncheon; desserts and beverages will be provided by the Shiloh church family.” For questions or concerns, call Church Women United President Reba Jackson at (706) 483-7203.

• Five Springs Methodist Church at 2823 Five Springs Road in Dalton has a community food pantry on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.
• Five Springs Methodist Church has Fellowship Singing and a Covered Dish Supper the third Sunday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
• Riverbend Church of Christ in Dalton opens a benevolent house each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for area residents in need. People can choose from a variety of clothing, shoes, household items and more at no charge. The ministry is in the white house beside the church building at 2218 S. Riverbend Road.
• St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 901 W. Emery St. in Dalton, offers several Christian educational opportunities and events:
— Sunday, May 5, Holy Eucharist Services, rite one at 8 a.m., rite two with Children’s Church at 10:30; adult Christian education, 9 and 9:45 a.m. in the Parish Hall, coffee and refreshments served; Daughters of the King meeting, noon in the church library.
