No animal ordinance in Cohutta

Whitfield County animal control officers patrol all of Whitfield County, except Cohutta. Cohutta does not have an animal control ordinance.
“They (the county) have a leash law and it just seems to be an unpopular part of the ordinance,” said Cohutta Mayor Don Henderson. “And I haven’t had many complaints. I’ve had one complaint about a dog being too friendly.”
In the event of a dangerous dog, Cohutta residents call the police department, Henderson said.
“The county has been kind enough to help us on occasion,” he said.
