Ernest Taylor

Ernest Taylor, 89, of Oakman, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Chatsworth Health Care Center in Chatsworth.

Ernest was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Gordon County. He was the son of Ernest Taylor and Etta Mae (Green) Taylor.

He was a lifelong resident of Oakman. He was a veteran in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving over three years in Europe. After returning from World War II, he became a partner with his father, and they operated a general store in Oakman.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mable Martin, Lucille Owens and Eunice Hamrick; a brother, Herbert (Buck) Taylor; and a nephew, Jackson Taylor.

Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. DaRon Henson officiating.

Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Oakman.

Friends may call today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
