VALDOSTA — A shooting Sunday night in the 2400 block of Knox Drive left a 25-year-old man dead, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

VPD officers said they arrived at the residence at around 9:45 p.m., where they found Brian Keith Moore, dead from a gunshot wound, police said.

First Coast News in Jacksonville, Fla. reported Monday afternoon that Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith has been granted leave from the team “following the shooting death of his brother in Valdosta.”

The Jaguars organization tweeted Monday afternoon, “Please keep Telvin Smith and his family in your thoughts and prayers following the tragic passing of his brother, Brian, on Sunday evening.”

Police say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and not random, but the investigation is ongoing and persons of interest are being sought.
