Amber Brooks has been a dedicated force in school nutrition at Whitfield County Schools since November 2022.
This summer, she took on a vital role at North Whitfield Middle School for the Summer Nutrition Program, where her efforts contributed to a remarkable achievement systemwide — over 310,000 meals were served to children in need, according to Jill Harrison, the summer feeding manager at North Whitfield.

“She tirelessly packed meals, loaded and unloaded delivery trucks, and personally handed out food to those in need,” Harrison said. “Amber was a very active and vital part in feeding the community of Whitfield County this summer. The Summer Nutrition Program, with Amber’s help, was a lifeline for many. Operating non-congregate sites three days a week, the program provided between 2,000 and 8,500 meals daily, making a significant impact on the community.”
During the school year, Brooks continues her work in the nutrition program at Eastbrook Middle School, ensuring students have access to nutritious meals that fuel their learning
For her efforts to make sure that Whitfield County Schools’ students have nutritious, quality meals, even when school is not in session, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Amber Brooks Citizen of the Week.
