Veteran literary agent Susan Graham said she will reveal the Top 10 secrets writers need to get their work noticed by agents. She is coming to Dalton this month to speak to the Creative Scribes Writers Group.
“I have worked with writers at all levels of experience, from complete beginner to established author with hundreds of books published.” Graham said. “I will first present information focused toward the beginning writer, then open the forum to questions about the publishing business.”
Graham, owner of Atlanta-based About Words Agency, will speak to the group at 6 p.m., March 20, at Penwicke’s Book Shop, 815-B N. Tibbs Road.
Anyone interested in writing, illustrating and publishing is invited to attend.
Penwicke’s will provide refreshments for meeting attendees.
Graham has sold works to publishing icons HarperCollins and St. Martins Press, among others. The focus of her agency is helping writers develop, she said.
Penwicke’s co-owner Gary Tanner said Graham’s visit to Dalton is a great opportunity for local writers.
“I’ve made a living as a journalist for more than 20 years, and I am excited about all the things Susan will be able to teach me,” he said. “What she has to say will benefit any writer of any level.”
In 1994 Graham co-founded the Georgia Writers Association, a state-wide organization created to help
writers in Georgia and surrounding states.
Creative Scribes Writers Group meetings, which are held twice a month at Penwicke’s Book Shop, are open to anyone. Membership in the group is free.
