A single-car accident Friday left a Chatsworth man dead.

The Whitfield County coroner’s office says Jose Carmen Esparzen Razo died at around 7:45 p.m. Friday after being airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Razo was a passenger in a car traveling on Dawnville Road near Lower Kings Bridge Road. An operator with the Georgia State Patrol barracks at Rocky Face says the car “came upon a dump truck making a left hand turn.” The driver steered to the right, and the car left the road way. Razo was ejected from the vehicle. The operator could not identify the driver. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, but the operator said speed is believed to have been a factor.
