Lyverne “McSpadden” Godwin

Lyverne “McSpadden” Godwin, 82, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in a Dalton hospital.

She was the daughter of the late George and Maddie Balcomb and was also preceded in death by her first husband, James T. McSpadden, and her second husband, Earl T. Godwin.

She is survived by her three sons, Larry McSpadden and Gregg McSpadden, both of Cleveland, and Don McSpadden of Auburn, Ala.; two daughters, Yvonne Martin of Cohutta, Ga., and Brenda Ogletree of Statesboro, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Adkins of Dothan, Ala.; nephew, Jimmy Adkins of Dothan, Ala.; niece, Jerri Ann Kent of Birmingham, Ala.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
