Two arrested for home invasion robbery

A second man allegedly involved in a May 22 home invasion armed robbery was arrested Tuesday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office.

Jose Robles, 28, of 1915 Cordelle Road in Douglasville, was charged with armed robbery by the sheriff’s office for his part in the incident at 140-B Springfield Drive. Jose Castro-Trejo, 22, of 186 Pat Mell S.E. in Marietta, was charged with armed robbery by the sheriff’s office on June 2.

A resident at the home told deputies two males came to his door and told him their car was overheating and asked for water. He went to the kitchen to get the water and when he turned around one of the men “pulled a gun” and ordered the resident and his wife to get on the floor, according to an incident report. The phone cord was cut and the couple were tied up.

A female came to the residence and noticing something was wrong attempted to call 911. She was ordered inside by one of the men and was tied up also. The men took two cell phones, $210 in cash and a car key. Detective Sam West found the three alleged victims all had red marks around their wrists, and noted a 2-year-old child was also at the residence. He was told the men were driving a “small two-door black car.”

Fifteen minutes before the incident, Officer Brian Ingle with the Chatsworth Police Department had run a license check on a suspicious vehicle at a convenience store in the Central community. Murray 911 sent out a “be on the lookout” for the small black car following the alleged home invasion. A deputy told West the next morning Ingle had spotted the car at the convenience store the day before. After running the license plate, West contacted Marietta authorities. After an almost three-week investigation, they assisted West in making the arrest of Robles in Marietta.

Both men are still in the Murray County Jail and have not been given a bond, said a spokeswoman.
