Whitfield County Schools hosts pre-kindergarten registration

Whitfield County’s pre-kindergarten registration for Antioch, Beaverdale, Cedar Ridge, Cohutta, Dawnville and Dug Gap elementary schools and the Whitfield Career Academy will take place at the Whitfield County Health Department at 808 Professional Blvd. in Dalton on Monday, March 29, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday, March 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please remember students will be placed in a lottery drawing for each pre-k class. Each classroom will serve 20 children.

Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2010, to attend these pre-kindergarten classrooms. Antioch and Cedar Ridge will have two pre-k classrooms.

Parents need to bring copies of the following:

• Proof of immunizations (form 3231)

Email newsletter signup

• Eye, ear and dental certificate (form 3300)

• Social Security card

• Birth certificate

• Proof of residence in parent’s name (i.e., rent receipt, lease agreement, settlement statement, utility bill that shows “service address” or, if family is living with another family, notarized letter and utility bill from that person)

• Medicaid/Peach Care card       

Information and registration materials for local private pre-k and child care providers will also be available along with the following services: immunizations; dental, vision and hearing screenings; and birth certificates (if born in Whitfield County).
