Maxine Latimer

Maxine Latimer, 61, of Dalton, departed this life on Saturday evening, Feb. 11, 2006, at the Hamilton Medical Center. Mrs. Latimer was born May 15, 1944, in Fannin County, a daughter of the late James P. and Helen Lowery Payne. She was also preceded in death by he daughters, Carla and Penny Latimer. Mrs. Latimer was a member of Ridge Road Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, David W. Latimer of the residence; daughter, Jennifer Latimer of Dalton; brothers, Danny Payne of Lafayette and Terry Payne of Chickamauga; sisters, Sue Key of Tunnel Hill, Delphine Dockery of Murphy, N.C., and Patricia Gilbreath of Lafayette; grandchildren, Greg, Jeff, John and Mandy Long, Zachary Latimer, and Dubby Axley; great-grandchildren, Austin and Courtney Long, Gage and Brayden Long, Lindsey Long, and Timberly Locklear; special friends, Jimmy Hackney, Tina Bennett and Callie Payne; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Payne and Rev. Steve Spangler officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Beverly Payne and J.D. Caraway. Interment will follow at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Brett Hannah, Jeff Long, John Long, Roger Lowery, Ray Killion and Danny Payne honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family began receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday.
