A food service worker was arrested Friday morning on charges she had oral sex with an inmate at the Whitfield County Jail.
Allison Nicole Stewart, 19, of 911 Lake Katherine Road, Tunnel Hill, is charged with sexual assault against a person in custody and two counts of crossing a guard line with prohibited items.
Magistrate Judge Kay Cope set a $2,500 bond for Stewart Friday afternoon. She was being held in the Murray County Jail.
According to the warrant, Stewart worked with Trinity Services, a private company that provides meals to inmates at the Whitfield County Jail. Stewart was not an employee of the sheriff’s office or Whitfield County.
She had oral sex with the inmate in a closet area of the kitchen earlier this week, the warrant stated.
“He was a trusty that helped prepare the food in the kitchen,” said Capt. Rick Swiney with the sheriff’s office. “He’s lost his trusty status and he’s been locked back down.”
The county contracted with Trinity Services for food service at the beginning of the year.
“We met with company officials today and they took the appropriate action,” Swiney said. Swiney did not specify what the action was.
