A man and woman found covered in blood in an SUV Monday night by police were the victims of an armed robbery, police said Wednesday.

Tarveres Nelson, 27, of 203 Greenridge Drive, Dalton, is charged by the Dalton Police Department with armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly beating the man and woman, whose names are not being released by officials. Nelson is also charged with illegal possession of a prescription drug.

An anonymous caller saw two people in a white SUV covered in blood, according to a Dalton Police Department incident report. Officers stopped the vehicle on Dug Gap Road and found blood throughout the interior of the vehicle and on the victims, the report said.

The man and woman told police they had been beaten. Police did not disclose where they said the beating had occurred, but the report indicated it was at the end of a dead end road.
