Four face conspiracy to commit murder charges

Four people charged with conspiracy to commit murder are expected to be tried in Whitfield County Superior Court next week.
Donnie Lee Turner, 35, of 330 Downing St.; Troy Jackson, 41, of 330 Downing St.; Linda Campbell, 43, of 685 Cherokee St.; and Randy Lane Stone, 29, of 2215 Kerr Road, are accused of holding a woman against her will on Jan. 24. Stone and Turner are accused of taking her to a wooded area in south Whitfield County and leaving her for dead.
The alleged victim was the estranged wife of Jackson, according to authorities. Turner, who is female, and Jackson were having a romantic relationship, deputies said.
The woman was allegedly beaten, drugged, stripped naked and raped after being lured to Jackson’s home by Turner and Campbell.
A fifth person, George Russell Morris, 41, of 2959 Alternate Highway 52, Chatsworth, is accused of raping the woman and is also expected to be tried next week.
Jury selection is expected to begin on Monday, with opening arguments on Tuesday.
The charges are:
• Campbell, criminal conspiracy to commit murder, rape (party to a crime) and aggravated assault
• Jackson, criminal conspiracy to commit murder, false imprisonment, rape (party to a crime) and aggravated assault
• Morris, false imprisonment and rape
• Stone, criminal conspiracy to commit murder and false imprisonment
• Turner, criminal conspiracy to commit murder, false imprisonment, rape (party to a crime), aggravated assault, third degree arson and battery
