A Dalton man escaped serious injury after his tractor trailer was struck by a train at the intersection of Highway 136 and Highway 41 in Resaca Wednesday afternoon.
Christopher Wayne Wood is charged with failing to stop his vehicle within 15 feet of a train crossing, according to Resaca Police Chief Chuck Butler.
Wood was driving on Highway 136 around 4:15 p.m. when he stopped on the tracks behind three cars attempting to turn onto Highway 41. When the crossing arms began to come down signaling a train was on its way, Wood could not get out of the way and was struck by the train, Butler said.
The truck, which was from Duvall Chemicals of Dalton, contained non-hazardous chemicals, Butler said, but none were spilled onto the roadway.
