A Whitfield County sheriff’s deputy foiled a burglary attempt Friday night after finding a window to a business broken and two teenagers hiding under rugs inside.
Deputy T.J. Davis noticed the broken window while patrolling in the area near L.R. Resources, 1619 Puryear Drive. Davis and other officers went inside the business and found computers stacked on the floor, according to a report at the sheriff’s office.
Rafael Angel Graulau, 17, of Chalet Valley, No. 11, Dalton and Enrique Daniel Tavarez, 17, of 796 Bermuda St., Dalton, were found hiding under the rug wearing rubber gloves. Graulau’s left hand was bleeding, the report said.
Graulau and Tavarez are charged with possession of tools for the commission of a crime, second degree criminal damage to property and burglary. Graulau is also charged with a probation violation.
Both men remained in jail and are scheduled for bond hearings before Judge Robert Adams at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
