Ralph W. Hammontree

Mr. Ralph W. Hammontree, 88, of Chatsworth, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Murray Medical Center.

Mr. Hammontree was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jessie P. Hammontree; father, Chester Hammontree; mother, Katie Hammontree; sister, Edith Hammontree; brothers, W.A. Hammontree and Adrian Hammontree.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Paul Leopard and Gail Hickey, all of Chatsworth and Kay Pharr of Knoxville, Tenn.; sons, Lynn Hammontree and Cheryl of Dalton, Danny Hammontree and Ralph W. Hammontree Jr. of Chatsworth; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Keith of Dalton; a brother, Homer Chester Hammontree of Marietta; cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Payne and the Rev. Tony Patterson officiating.

Burial will be in the Center Valley Cemetery.

The family began receiving friends at the funeral home Friday.

Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth is in charge of arrangements.
