Dalton Police Department’s Special Operations Unit, along with the Situational Response Unit and Patrol Division, will step up efforts in enforcing Georgia’s seat belt and child restraint laws as part of the statewide “Click it or Ticket” campaign.
The campaign will run from May 21 through June 3. The first statewide campaign of the year will include the Memorial Day holiday.
Current statewide seat belt usage in the state is 90 percent, the highest in the Southeast, according to the police department. For 2006, Dalton’s seat belt usage was 94 percent.
The police department is encouraging all motorists to buckle up and obey Georgia’s occupant safety laws, including the use of child safety restraints.
The police department will conduct several road checks during the holiday period.a
