Roland W. Earley

Mr. Roland W. Earley, 76, of Resaca, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Fannin County. He was preceded in death by his father Jim Earley; mother, Ellen Postelle Earley Kinsey; stepfather, Abe Kinsey; son Marty Earley; brother Sam Earley.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Reba “Tootsie” Earley of Resaca; son and daughters-in-law Doyle and Patty Earley of Locus Grove, Wanda Earley McDonald of McDonough; daughters and sons-in-law Ann Hudgins and Steve Westoff, Martha and Hoyt Hammock of Resaca, Cathy and Robert Cromer of McDonough; sister, Dorothy Chapman of Rocky Face; grandson who he raised as his son, Stephen and Joy Wilson of Stockbridge; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Earley are today at 2 p.m., from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Rogers and Rev. Shirley Caldwell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Stephen Wilson, Daniel Hammock, Jonathan Hammock, Brian Cromer, Darrell Rogers and Melvin Wells will serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday.
